EMPLOYMENT COUNSELLING

Susie Webster, Employment Counsellor, will be coming to the QUEST Centre on Wednesdays. Prior to being off raising her daughter, Susie has worked for five years as an employment counsellor at Community Employment Services in Woodstock, Ontario.  Susie has a Management diploma and a degree in Sociology from Waterloo University.

Susie states that employment counsellors take a holistic approach, helping people understand the relationship between their skills and experience and the labour market.  They make it easier for people to make decisions and decide if upgrading or training is appropriate.  Employment counsellors also provide referrals to outside agencies that may complement someone who is seeking employment, as well as career and vocational assessments.  They also provide assistance with resumes and cover letters, and help with transferring skills from one career to another.

Susie can assist anyone in their employment endeavours, specifically those who are on employment insurance, going through a job transition or re-entering the workforce.  She can also work with persons who have been laid off, downsized or fired. (Basically anyone).

Are there any pre-requisites to see an Employment Counsellor?

There is a workshop called Road To Your Future that is available at the GAIN Centre in Strathroy.  This workshop helps people get a clearer picture of their skills and abilities that they can bring into the work force, and also what areas require more work and what the next step is.  Counsellors also provide an extensive list of resources available in the community.

People can access the RTYF program in two ways: They can call the QUEST Centre and sign up for the program, or Susie might suggest it after a meeting with a client. The Road To Your Future is not pre-requisite to being able to see an employment counsellor, but it is helpful.

If you would like to set up an appointment with Susie Webster, you can call the QUEST Centre at 287-2726.  Susie will be at the Centre every Wednesday.
