RECONNECT

The Thames Valley District School Board introduced the Reconnect Program in February 2005 to assist students between 16 and 20 years of age who are not presently attending high school. These students are assisted in throughout Elgin, Middlesex and Oxford Counties.

The Reconnect staff consisting of one counsellor (Wendy Coombs) and one teacher (Scott Howard) meet at the QUEST Centre every Friday morning.

This program is flexible to meet the needs of all students including young moms as well as those students who are employed. The process to register is as follows:

 > Students will complete an intake appointment with the counsellor to discuss the program as well as educational and emotional needs.

 > An appointment will then be made with the teacher to choose a course.

 > The student will continue to meet with the teacher for one hour per week and complete additional work at home throughout the week.

 >The counselling component is optional to assist students with issues such as family, relationships, abuse, grief, addictions, etc.

If you are interested in participating in the Reconnect Program please contact Wendy at (519) 633- 0136 or cell # (519) 281- 5582.
