During this workshop you will acquire digital images from a variety of sources.  You will learn to use a scanner (bring your favourite photograph), have your photo taken with a digital camera (don't worry, you get to keep the image), and download images from the Internet.  You will also explore clip art CS ROMs.  You will also examine the various settings available when using scanner software and understand the use of TWAIN software.  You will also explore the various file formats used in digital imaging and explain image and screen resolution and you will have an opportunity to do some basic image editing.  Using Adobe Photoshop Elements or Adobe Photoshop, you will learn how to edit the images you acquired from scanners, digital cameras, the Internet and CD ROMs.  You will learn to use palettes, save in different file formats, and crop, re-size, rotate and flip images.  You will touch up photographs using the paintbrush and cloning tools, alter them using filters and examine other concepts such as aspect ratio, hue and saturation.
