STANDARD FIRST AID & CPR
      March 15 & 16, 2007 ~ 9am-5pm 

Standard First Aid and CPR $105 per person (includes manual)
16 hours of instruction includes full CPR plus trauma and  medical emergencies  

Standard First Aid & CPR Re-Certification  
$65 per person  / $35 extra if manual is required, 8 hours of
instruction and review. Must show proof of valid certification.
Qualified Instructor certified by The Canadian Red Cross Society and The Heart and Stroke Foundation.

'Dealing With A Difficult or Angry Person'
November 22 ~ 1 - 3pm

Held at The QUEST Centre

Must pre-register with payment by Nov. 15th
$20 / person

This workshop will present information, skills and safety tips for the        participants to: 
  * Identify the difficult people in their lives
  * Recognize the signs of disruptive or angry behaviour
  * Learn about their self-awareness of anger
  * Explore how to develop a positive attitude
  * Learn techniques and safety tips to use when dealing with a difficult or angry person

The skills and techniques presented by the ESAO (Education Safety Association of Ontario) will assist your staff to diffuse a difficult situation and prevent an incident from escalating. As many of our workplaces are open to the public, this course is ideal for companies or organizations, to help deal effectively with disruptive or angry clients, visitors, fellow workers or as a matter of personal safety.

COMPUTER COURSES

Computer Tutorials for the Beginner:   (1 ½ hrs)  $25
Appointment required. This is an introductory course for individuals with little or no knowledge of computers.  Topics include how a computer works, keyboard, keys/multi-function keys, Start Menu, File Manager (Windows Explorer) and more.  Become familiar with commonly used computer terms such as hardware/software, operating system, CPU, icons, mouse and others.

Word Processing Level 1 (6 hrs:$90)  Nov. 7 & 14 ~ 6-9pm         
MS Word / Corel WordPerfect: 
Learn how to create, edit and manage your files.  Make your documents more attractive with various formats and bullet or number lists.  You will learn how to cut, copy and paste within the same document.  Learn time saving features and useful tools.

Digital Images (6 hrs:$90)  Dates to be announced 
During this workshop you will acquire digital images from a variety of sources. You will learn to use a scanner (bring your favourite photograph), have your photo taken with a digital camera (don’t worry, you get to keep the image), and download images from the Internet. You will also explore clip art CD ROMs. You will also examine the various settings available when using scanner software and understand the use of TWAIN software. You will also explore the various file formats used in digital imaging and explain image and screen resolution and you will have an opportunity to do some basic image editing.
Using Adobe Photoshop Elements or Adobe Photoshop, you will learn how to edit the images you acquired from scanners, digital cameras, the Internet and CD ROMs. You will learn to use palettes, save in different file formats, and crop, re-size, rotate and flip images. You will touch up photographs using the paintbrush and cloning tools, alter them using filters and examine other concepts such as aspect ratio, hue and saturation.

Word Processing Level 2 (6 hrs: $90) Nov. 21 & 28 ~6-9pm         
MS Word / Corel WordPerfect:  Increase your productivity with more shortcuts and advanced options.  Work with features such as tab stops, headers and footers and basic graphics.  Get a good handle on program specific features such as Word Section Breaks or WordPerfect Reveal Codes

Spreadsheets Level 2 (6 hrs: $90)  Nov. 16 & 23 ~ 6-9pm            
MS Excel/Corel Quattro Pro
: 
This course will provide more in-depth knowledge of built-in functions, worksheet protection and some basic database features.

Desktop Publishing (6 hrs: $90)  Nov. 15 & 22 ~ 6 -9pm            
Pre-requisite is MS Word Level 1. Create amazing publications such as cards, brochures, pamphlets, posters and more. 

Stop The Spies In Your Computer (6 hrs: $90) Nov. 29 & Dec. 6 ~ 6-9pm
Protect your computer. Learn how to:
~ stop and prevent viruses
~ stop data theft
~ understand online security
~ understand the differences between Spam, Spyware, Pop-Ups
~ set up strategies with your youth
~ and more

A Computer for You:  What to Buy  (3 hrs: $25) Nov. 30 ~ 6-9pm
Instructor:  Tom Holder 
If you are thinking of buying a new computer for yourself, or someone else you’ll want to prepare by attending this seminar which is designed to help you ask the right questions so you can make the right choices when purchasing a computer for your personal, or small business use.

Shopping On-Line (3 hrs)  TBA ~ 6-9pm                     
Learn how to book a trip or hotel on-line, purchase tickets, order from major companies, pay bills, do your banking on-line, buy off eBay. Look at security issues with purchasing on-line.
