Guidelines for
Computer/Internet Use at
the QUEST Centre Community Initiatives
- Before being permitted to access the
computers or Internet, you are required to provide a copy of the Computer
Use Contract. If you are under 18, your parent or guardian's
signature will also be required.
- The use of chat rooms is prohibited.
MSN Messenger is also prohibited. You must use the computers
according to the guidelines that are outlined in your contract with the
QUEST Centre. people who are in breach of these guidelines will have
computer privileges removed.
- Do not shut-off or re-set computers.
Do not adjust monitors. Of you have difficulty, please ask for
staff assistance. You are responsible for the computer you are
using.
- When you come in to use the equipment,
please make your request at the reception desk. If you wish to use a
set of headphones, you will be required to sign for them. If there
is a problem with the equipment, please inform staff before you begin to
use it.
- The computers are numbered for easy
identification. Computers 1 to 4 are generally reserved for people
conducting job searches. Please check with reception if you wish to
use one of these.
- "Stick Death" and other violent video
games are not permitted.
- If you are using disks that you have
brought from home or elsewhere (including elsewhere in the school), please
have them virus scanned at reception prior to using. DO NOT
DOWNLOAD SOFTWARE TO OUR SYSTEMS.
- No food or drink is permitted in the
computer lab or at any computer terminal in the QUEST Centre.
- Occasionally, we will have the computers
reserved for other uses or clients. Please respect the "reserved"
signs. We prefer not to set limits on your use of the computers
however, you have been on the computers for some length of time, and all
of the computers are full, you may be asked to leave the computer to give
another client a chance to use the computer.
- There is a limit of 15 people in the
computer lab. One person per computer station only.
The use of
the computer equipment in the QUEST Centre, including the Internet, is a
privilege not a right. Inappropriate use will be dealt with and may
result in cancellation of those privileges and/or legal action.
The QUEST
Centre reserves the right to temporarily or permanently remove computer
privileges, is, in our opinion, the actions of the computer user warrant
such measures. Persons breaking the law should expect that the police
will be informed.
